Each season an ensemble of principal musicians from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra present 45-minute programs for pre-school, kindergarten and day-care children. These unique concerts introduce classical music to the children, teach them about the instruments of the orchestra and about basic musical concepts. They also receive personal contact with the musicians. This gives teachers an opportunity to teach and reinforce audience skills. Teachers also receive a Study Guide in advance to prepare the students for the event.
This season, the concerts will feature Anthony Plog's Aesop's Fables and Maurice Ravel's Mother Goose Suite and take place at the 6th Street Lobby in the Victory Theatre on November 2-4, 2011 and April 3-5, 2012. There will be two performances each morning at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Over 3,000 children attend these popular concerts. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. The 2012 April Lollipop concerts are now SOLD OUT!
