Newman to sing at Peppermint Pops

EVANSVILLE —A classically trained soprano who’s performed operatic, cabaret and musical theater parts in New York and around the country will sing songs of the season with theEvansville Philharmonic Orchestra this weekend in the annual Peppermint Pops concert.
Jenn Newman, a soloist and recording artist from New York, will take center stage in The Victory to sing “Do You Hear What I Hear?,” “Silent Night,” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” with the orchestra, led byAlfred Savia.
The program, which will play Saturday night and repeat Sunday afternoon, will offer a musical setting of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and include performances by the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus, Evansville Ballet and Jan’s School of Dance.
Evansville Ballet will offer a preview of its “Nutcracker” ballet, featuring Sarah Waters dancing the Arabian variation to music of Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky, and the concert will showcase Jan’s School of Dance students in Tim Hankewich’s “Kickin’ Kringle.”
The program will conclude with an audience singalong segment and an appearance by Santa Claus.
