Each March, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra presents five free concerts for Tri-State area children in grades 3-5. The concerts are conducted by EPO Assistant Conductor and EPYO Music Director Brian St. John. Over 1,500 children from Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky attend the concerts, as well as 1,000 children from outside the Philharmonic service region.
Participating schools receive a teacher’s guide and mp3 study tracks to help teachers prepare the students for the concerts.
This season’s “Helen M. McKinney Young People’s Concerts” will be held March 13-15, 2013 at the Victory Theatre in downtown Evansville. There will be one performance on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and two performances on Thursday and Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
