Lollipop Concerts

Each season an ensemble of principal musicians from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra present 45-minute programs for pre-school, kindergarten and day-care children. These unique concerts introduce classical music to the children, teach them about the instruments of the orchestra and about basic musical concepts. They also receive personal contact with the musicians. This gives teachers an opportunity to teach and reinforce audience skills. Teachers also receive a Study Guide in advance to prepare the students for the event.

This season, the concerts will feature Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and will take place at the former North High School Auditorium on October 16-18, 2012 and April 10-12, 2013. There will be two performances each morning at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Over 3,000 children attend these popular concerts. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
