WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
The
Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra is comprised of 80 professional
musicians, many of whom have graduated from the finest music schools in
the country, including Indiana University and the University of
Evansville. Many of these highly talented musicians live and work in
Evansville and are long-time orchestra members.
The Philharmonic performs concerts from September through May, including:
-
7-concert Classics Series
-
4-concert Pops Series
-
6 Educational Youth Concerts
-
Handel's Messiah by Candlelight
-
Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker
The
Philharmonic is a $2 million not-for-profit corporation, serving as a
key cultural asset in the region's economic development process. With a
$1 million payroll and 180 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees,
the Orchestra has a multiplier effect on the local and regional
economy, using dollars that would not otherwise have seen their way
into the community (for example, hotels, restaurants, gas stations,
retail, insurance, accountants, sound & lighting systems, music
stores, graphic designers, printers, etc.)
