Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra Print E-mail

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra (EPO) is the largest arts institution in the Tri-State. The high quality programs provided annually by the Orchestra continue to improve the quality of life in the community.

Founded in 1934, the EPO is a professional orchestra comprised of approximately 80 musicians led by Music Director Alfred Savia. Each year, the EPO presents a seven-concert Classics Series, 4 double-pops performances, special event concerts, as well as numerous educational and outreach performances.

The season balances performances by internationally renowned soloists and local artists, popular works and twentieth-century compositions, as well as familiar and unique solo instruments. Through the years, Evansville Philharmonic audiences have enjoyed top-quality soloists like Itzhak Perlman, Andre Watts, Roger Williams, Judy Collins, Doc Severinsen, Sandi Patty, Joshua Bell, Frederica von Stade, and Daniel Rodriguez, to name a few.

The EPO is governed by a board of directors made up of community volunteers and, in addition to the musicians, employs a small full-time and part-time staff.  Included in the Philharmonic family are the Evansville Philharmonic Guild and the Crescendo Club, who help maintain the Orchestra's financial stability, as well as the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus and Friends of the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestras, which support the Orchestra in other ways.
