Who Is The Concertmaster, and What Does He Do? |
|
|
|
The concertmaster sits in the first chair of the first violins. In the
case of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, his name is Gared
Crawford.
The concertmaster acts as leader of that section, but also plays a
leadership role with orchestra as a whole. He is also the last
orchestra musician to enter the stage before a concert, and cues the
oboe to tune the orchestra.
