LIVE ANIMALS ADD NEW DIMENSION TO EVANSVILLE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA'S LOLLIPOP CONCERTS
Evansville, Indiana - The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Guild are partnering with the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden to present their fall Lollipop Concerts to more than fifteen hundred preschoolers and kindergarten students on November 1, 2, and 3, at the Mesker Park Zoo's Discovery Center in Evansville. The orchestra will present these performances twice daily beginning at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. This year, the Philharmonic is presenting these annual performances with some new twists.
The Lollipop Concerts are a series of 45-minute "informances" that invite children to explore the different families of orchestral instruments and introduce them to live symphonic music through interaction with Evansville Philharmonic musicians. This year's concerts will feature Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals. Students will hear music that represents different animals and will also get to meet a few of the animals, as well. After the concert, the students will go on a scavenger hunt through the zoo to find the animals they heard in the music.
The Lollipop Concerts are presented in partnership with the Evansville Philharmonic Guild, Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden, and are sponsored by Lewis Bakeries. Admission to the concerts is $1.00 per child, and $1.00 per adult (payable at the door). Due to limited concert space, pre-registration is required. Limited space is available for spring Lollipop Concerts on April 4, 5, 6, 2011. For information or registration, please contact the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra Education Department, 812.425.5050, ext. 316, or
