Opening Night explodes with the world premiere of a boisterous fanfare written especially to celebrate your Philharmonic’s 75th season! Then — as a tribute to the past — the orchestra takes you to Scandinavia with Finlandia, (performed on the Philharmonic’s first program Dec. 9, 1934), under the direction of the guest conductor from Tochigi City, Japan, Evansville’s Sister City.
Maestro Savia and the 2009 Silver Medalist from the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (a superstar on the rise) take the stage for Rachmaninoff’s beloved Rhapsody.
To top off the evening’s celebration, indulge yourself with the most famous symphony ever written … Beethoven’s 5th. This once-in-a-lifetime event truly spans the generations … and the globe. As part of the celebration of a glorious evening, enjoy decadent desserts presented by local businesses.
