EVANSVILLE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA EXPANDS REACH/SERVICES VIA INTERNET

Evansville
, Indiana -           The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra is expanding its services to the Tri-State community, and essentially the world, via the internet with the launch of a new blog by Maestro Alfred Savia and a new Facebook page. Carrie Marrett, the Philharmonic's director of marketing says, "We're consistently striving for ways to better serve the Tri-State community and reach new audiences.  We're thrilled to be able to explore these new areas of communication with our fellow Tri-Staters."

The blog, called MaestroChat, is posted by Maestro Savia who's now entering his 20th season as the Evansville Philharmonic's music director.  "I think it's wonderful that technology allows us this opportunity to share such a unique look inside the Orchestra that many wouldn't normally get to see," says Savia.  "I really look forward to sharing a rare look backstage with this blog.  I hope to make it interesting, informative and a little fun, too."  In his first entry, Savia writes, "Along the way, I welcome dialogue with audience members, and hope that many of the musicians of the Philharmonic will also add their comments about the process."  MaestroChat can be found by logging onto the Philharmonic's website, www.evansvillephiharmonic.org and clicking the MaestroChat link on the left menu, or one can find it directly at http://maestrochat.blogspot.com.

The Philharmonic has also launched a new Facebook page.  It plans to use this page to reach younger audience members including students at the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana. The page features details on the upcoming season and will offer special Student Rush prices for all Tri-State students with a valid ID.  The page was essentially designed for Tri-State students by Tri-State students.  Marrett adds, "I've had a lot of input on this project from several college students who work or intern for us.  Their assistance has been an integral part of helping us reach their peers."  The Facebook page can also be found by clicking the link on the Philharmonic's website or by visiting   www.facebook.com.
