Evansville Philharmonic
Orchestra
to assist tri-state food bank
at “peppermint pops”
Evansville, Indiana – The Evansville Philharmonic
Orchestra and the Tri-State Food Bank are working together to help local
families in need. The Tri-State Food Bank will be collecting at
this weekend’s Philharmonic performances of “Peppermint Pops”. The concerts are on Saturday, December 1 at 8:00
p.m. and Sunday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Theatre. Concert-goers
are encouraged to bring their non-perishable food items or monetary donations
for the Tri-State Food Bank. Tri-State
Food Bank representatives will be at each performance to collect the items.
“The Philharmonic strives to improve the quality of life for
everyone in our community. Our collaboration with the Tri-State Food Bank has
become a tradition over the years. It seemed a natural fit to incorporate
the spirit of giving with one of our most popular programs, Peppermint Pops,
especially at this time of year, when food banks struggle to meet an
overwhelming demand,” says Carrie Marrett,
director of marketing for Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Mary Blair, executive director of the
Tri-State Food Bank adds, “The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra gives more
than music to our community. By offering the venue of the Peppermint Pops
as an opportunity for people to donate to the Food Bank, many of our less
fortunate citizens will have food for the coming holidays.”
“Peppermint Pops” will feature the
orchestra and Broadway star Doug LaBrecque, along with the Evansville
Philharmonic Chorus, Evansville Children’s Choirs, Jan’s School of Dance
and of course, this family tradition wouldn’t be complete without an appearance
from Santa! The Orchestra’s new
Crescendo Club will offer pictures with Santa for just $5.
Adult tickets start at $15; however,
those $15 seats are almost sold-out. Tickets can be purchased in advance by
calling the Philharmonic Box Office at 812.425.5050. Tickets will also be available at the door
two hours before each performance. Student tickets can be purchased at the door
one hour before each performance for $10 each, based upon availability. College ID is required.
“Peppermint Pops”
is sponsored by Schnuck Markets and Mead Johnson Nutritionals. Media sponsor for the Philharmonic’s “…And
the Heat Goes On” 2007-2008 season is 14 WFIE.
