EVANSVILLE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA PRESENTS EDUCATIONAL CONCERTS FOR PRESCHOOLERS
Evansville, Indiana
– The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra will present its annual
Lollipop Concerts to more than a thousand preschoolers on October 23,
24, 25, 29, & 30th, at the Koch Family Children’s Museum of
Evansville (cMoe), 22 SE 5th St., Evansville. These fun-filled performances will be presented twice daily beginning at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Admission to the concerts is $1.00 per child and $1.00 per adult (payable at the door). Due to limited concert space, pre-registration is required.
The
Lollipop Concerts are a series of 45-minute “informances” that invite
children to explore the different families of orchestral instruments,
while introducing them to live symphonic music through interaction with
Evansville Philharmonic musicians. The concerts are
presented by ten of the principal musicians of the Evansville
Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Assistant Conductor
Joseph Eunkwan Choi. This year’s concerts entitled “The Magic of Music,” feature the “spooktacular” music of Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and will allow children to discover how music tells a story.
In
addition to the Lollipop performances, children may learn more about
music and the performing arts by exploring selected areas of the
Children’s Museum (cMoe). cMoe is offering a special museum exploration package just for Lollipop Concert participants. This mini-field trip includes 45 minutes of exploration in three of their most popular galleries, including Speak Loud which allows children to play instruments from around the world. Admission
to the Lollipop Concert AND the cMoe Exploration Package is $3.00 per
child and $3.00 per adult (payable at the door with pre-registration).
The Lollipop Concerts are presented in partnership with the Evansville Philharmonic Guild and sponsored by Lewis Bakeries and Target. For
information or registration, please contact the Evansville Philharmonic
Orchestra Education Department, 812.425.5050, ext. 316, or
