EVANSVILLE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA’S 2007 OPENING NIGHT GALA HONORS AMERICAN GENERAL FINANCIAL SERVICES FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra will kick off their 2007 Opening Night Gala on Saturday, September 15, 2007. This
year’s gala will honor American General Financial Services (AGFS) and
its Chairman and CEO, Rick Geissinger, for their tremendous generosity
to the tri-state community.
Along
with being a generous contributor to the Evansville Philharmonic
Orchestra, Mr. Geissinger serves as a Board Member for the Signature
School and the Evansville Regional Business Committee, and sits on the
Advisory Board for the UE Institute for Global Enterprise.
Headquartered
in Evansville, AGFS is a major contributor to Habitat for Humanity,
United Way, the Evansville Museum, Koch Family Children’s Museum,
Evansville K-12 schools, universities, Joshua Academy and the recently
announced Ronald McDonald House.
“We
are so grateful for all that American General Financial Services has
done to make our community a better place to live and raise a family,”
said Glenn Roberts, Executive Director of the Evansville Philharmonic
Orchestra. “We are honored to have this occasion to thank Mr. Geissinger and AGFS for their generosity.”
Vectren
Corporation has graciously offered the lobby of their beautiful new
building for the Philharmonic’s 2007 Opening Night Gala, which begins
at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and dinner at 6:00 p.m. Guests
will then be transported to the historic Victory Theatre for the
Opening Night Concert at 8 p.m. featuring Grammy® award-winning double
bassist, Edgar Meyer, one of today’s most sought after instrumentalists. Following the concert, the entire audience is invited to savor some of the most decadent desserts prepared by local restaurants and businesses. This dessert reception held in the lobbies of the Victory Theatre rounds out a perfect evening of entertainment, glitz and glamour.
The
Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra is comprised of 80 professional
musicians, many of whom have graduated from the finest music schools in
the country, including Indiana University and the University of
Evansville. Half of these highly talented musicians live and work in
Evansville and are long-time orchestra members.
The
Philharmonic is a $2 million not-for-profit corporation, serving as a
key cultural asset in the region’s economic development process. With a
$1 million payroll and 180 employees, the Philharmonic performs
concerts from September through May, including 7-concert Classics
Series, 4-concert Pops Series, 6 educational Youth Concerts and
Handel’s Messiah by Candlelight.
