the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra ANNOUNCES
NEW Chorus conductor appointed
Evansville, Indiana - The
Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra is pleased to announce that Dr.
Dennis Malfatti has been newly appointed the position of Conductor of
the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus. Malfatti is also currently
the assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at the University of Evansville.
"While Dennis has only been in
Evansville for a year, his work this past season with the University of
Evansville Chorus program has been most impressive," says Philharmonic
Music Director, Alfred Savia. He adds, "Equally impressive was
the extraordinary rehearsal he did with the Philharmonic Chorus
recently, transforming the singers into a beautiful, cohesive singing
ensemble in the span of an hour and a half."
Following this rehearsal which served
as Malfatti's audition, Chorus members were asked to fill out
questionnaires rating the candidate. "The results of the survey
revealed an overwhelming positive response from Chorus members," says
Kimberly Bredemeier, chorus manager. Taking that and artistic
quality into careful consideration, the Philharmonic music director,
executive director and the Chorus' Executive Advisory Committee
consulted and the Philharmonic offered Dr. Malfatti a contract, which
he accepted.
"I am most honored to have been
invited to lead the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus," says
Malfatti. "This organization is made up of individuals who are
extremely committed to its success. They want to reach their
highest potential as choral singers and I look forward to facilitating
that process for them and for the Philharmonic organization as a whole."
Of Malfatti, Savia adds, "He has a
thoroughly comprehensive resume of choral work, and we look forward to
Dr. Malfatti helping us grow the Philharmonic Chorus program this next
season and beyond."
The Evansville Philharmonic Chorus
offers listeners an opportunity to experience live choral and
orchestral music in a professional setting. The ensemble
includes volunteer adult members from throughout the Tri-State
area. Those interested in auditioning for the Evansville
Philharmonic Chorus should contact Kimberly Bredemeier at (812) 425 -
5050.
