INTEGRA BANK REPRESENTATIVE TO
MAKE CONDUCTING DEBUT WITH PHILHARMONIC
Evansville, Indiana – The Evansville
Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to present its first-ever Conductor's Challenge maestro--Dan J. Carwile, Executive Vice President
and manager of the Wealth Management Division of Integra Bank.
The Conductor’s Challenge is
a new Philharmonic fundraiser which offers a member of the community the
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to conduct a live symphony orchestra. Carwile,
who has no podium experience, will be conducting the “Toreadors” from Georges
Bizet’s Carmen Suite at a Pops
Concert, Saturday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. in
the Victory Theatre. It will be the first piece on the program. The concert,
entitled “Misbehavin’ Tonight,” features trumpeter and singer Byron Stripling
in a foot-stomping, jazzy tribute to the legendary Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller
and Cab Calloway.
As the Orchestra’s first
Conductor’s Challenge participant, Carwile contacted friends and colleagues asking
them to help pay for his $5,000 admission onto the podium. All proceeds go to
benefit the work the Philharmonic does for the Tri-State community through its
many concerts and extensive educational programs.
Many orchestras across the
country hold similar events. The Evansville Philharmonic hopes this will become
an annual event attracting other community leaders
wishing to step up to the podium.
Dan Carwile holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manchester College, as well
as an MBA and law degree from Indiana University. He is past Chairman of the
Trust Committee of the Indiana Bankers Association, a member of the Evansville
Estate & Financial Planning Council and a member of the American, Indiana,
and Evansville Bar Associations, currently serving as President of the EBA. Mr.
Carwile is also a trustee of the $3 Billion Pension Board of the United Church
of Christ. He is a frequent speaker on
trust, estate planning, and investment topics before laymen and estate and
financial planning professionals. Dan is Past President and has been a member
of the YMCA of SW IN Board for almost 20 yrs, a board member of the Girl Scouts
of Raintree Council, and a member and Past President of the Rotary Club.
Tickets for the
concert start at $15. Student price is
$10 at the door one hour before each concert.
Student ID is required. For
tickets, call the Philharmonic Box Office at (812) 425 – 5050 or order online
