Joseph Eunkwan Choi, the philharmonic’s assistant conductor, will lead
the group and Sheryl Schuster, the orchestra’s director of education,
will narrate a 45-minute program titled “The Magic of Music.”
The show will feature Paul Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,”
presented in 45-minute “informances” that invite children to explore
the different families of orchestral instruments, while introducing
them to live symphonic music through interaction with Evansville
Philharmonic musicians.
The program, presented through the Evansville Philharmonic Guild,
has provided musical experiences to Tri-State children since 1971. This
is the second year the Lollipops Concerts have played in children’s
museum, or cMoe, at 22 SE Fifth St.
They’ll play at 9:30 and again at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Oct. 29 and 30.
Thanks to underwriting from two area companies, admission is only $1
for children and adults. Pre-schools have booked blocks of seats for
the shows, but individual seats will be available for all shows.
In conjunction with the performances, the Children’s Museum will
offer a special museum exploration package for Lollipop Concert
participants. It’s a mini-field trip with 45 minutes of exploration in
three popular galleries, including Speak Loud, inviting children to
play instruments from around the world.
Admission to the Lollipop Concert and the cMoe Exploration Package is $3 for children and adults.
