SYMPHONY OF COLOR 2006 ART CONTEST WINNERS

Evansville, Indiana- On February 28, 2006, a panel of representatives from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science, selected winners for the Symphony of Color 2006 Art Contest.  Art work from 83 students, grades 1-5, representing 18 elementary schools throughout the Tri-State was submitted in the contest.  Five top prizes were awarded along with fifteen honorable mentions.

Cash prizes, complimentary tickets to both the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra's March 19th Casual Classics Concert and Pops Concert, "Pirates of Penzance."  and gift bags from The Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science were awarded to winners.

The 5th Grade and Grade Prize was awarded to Garrett Paddock from St. Benedict Cathedral School in Evansville for his untitled work. The four Runner-Ups included 1st Grade Prize to Kaitlyn Lohe from Fort Branch Community School in Fort Branch, IN, for her work titled "The Best Orchestra." Ben Sermersheim from Good School Shepherd, Evansville, IN, won the 2nd Grade Prize for his work titled "Music in the Forest."

3rd Grade Prize was awarded to Kate Hodge from Evansville Day School in Evansville for her untitled work. Natalie Pitt of St. Benedict Cathedral School, Evansville, was awarded the 4th Grade Prize for her untitled work. The Conductors award was given to 5th grader Sydney Wilderman from St. Wendel for her work, "My Many Times." The Museum Directors award was given to fourth grader Alexandra Dyson for her work , "Sunset."

Honorable Mentions include Alexandra Dyson, a fourth grader from Westside Catholic School, Marcus Northington, a third grader, from Stockwell Elementary School, Jonathan Wilderman, a second grader, from St. Wendel. Also from St. Wendel, fifth grader Sydney Wilderman, third grader, Brady Goings from Fort Branch Community School, from Good Shepherd School, fourth grader Lauren Wathen, from Brumfield School: Nathan Wetzel, Eli Bishop, Kaitlyn Brown, and Megahn Bock. First graders Chase Gross and Haley Goad from Farmerville Elementary in.  From West Elementary, Justin Bilyew, Lola Neighbors, and Tyler Ranilly.

All entries will be displayed overhead during a performance at the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra's March 19, 2006, Casual Classics concert.
